As I am now at the end of my piano playing journey, I thought that I would reflect on my learning process and my final thoughts. Overall, I have really enjoyed practicing my piano playing skills and I am happy with the progress I have made. This experience has been very rewarding and positive. I also hope to be able to play “Frosty the Snowman” and “Jingle Bell Rock” by Christmas time and to effortlessly read sheet music one day. I am extremely proud of my hard work because I am now able to confidently play multiple Christmas songs on the piano. Originally, I wanted to be able to smoothly read sheet music by the end of the semester. However, I quickly realized that this was an unrealistic goal for me. The best piece of advice that I could give to someone who is just starting to learn how to play the piano is for them to use numbers (1-5) as a strategy to help them read sheet music. I find sheet music to be difficult to read using a letter to represent each note. I have learned that inquiry projects do not always arrive at their intended destinations. There may be obstacles that alter the path of one’s learning process.
