As we have arrived at the end of our journey of learning about how to edit music in GarageBand, Alina and I thought that it would be a good idea to reflect on our learning process and our final thoughts about GarageBand to conclude our tech inquiry project. Overall, we accomplished our goal to complete most of the basic audio editing competencies that we set at the beginning of the semester, but we had some challenges along the way. We entered this experience with high expectations and we thought we would be much more comfortable with using GarageBand at this point, but we still have more to learn. GarageBand was very new and unfamiliar to us as neither of us had ever used this program before. As we began to us GarageBand, we quickly noticed that we did not know all of the terms and controls necessary to navigate the program which was frustrating at first. Although we still have much more learning to do, we did improve in this area throughout the semester. We thought that we might be able to create our own track by the end of our journey, but we realized that this goal was a little too advanced for us. Instead, we focused on working with editing the the songs we created on the keyboard. We found that we had much more success in this area as we worked on layering, cutting, fading and changing the style of the sound of our songs. Overall, we are very happy with the progress we have made throughout the semester. With inquiry projects, you can be met with obstacles as you continue down your learning journey and your final destination may be in a different place than you initially thought. I think that it is important to remember that even if things do not go as planned, you are always learning and gaining valuable knowledge and experience!
